Heat Wave

Here in Chicago we have been experiencing a heat wave of epic proportions. I suggest you pour yourself an icy cocktail - I pulled together some bright essentials for staying cool when the temps are on the rise!

For this gal, who has been trying to break the habit of default dressing in polos and oxfords for far too long, spring's uber preppy trend is a welcome bridge. Interpreted in bright colors with kitschy details like needlepoint being shown by so many of my favorite retailers, perhaps I can put a more refined spin on some of my favorite basics...

Cha Cha Cha

If you are familiar with the fabulousness that is all things Pantone, you likely know that their 2012 Color of the Year has been designated as the delightfully poppy Tangerine Tango. This shade is so much fun, and more versatile than I initially thought! Whether whispering preppy chic when paired with navy and white or shouting summer next to gold details and a touch of turquoise, I can't wait to find ways to incorporate this color into my wardrobe and home .  It is already popping up in interiors (see the cover of Luxe), all over my spring catalogs and on the lips of lovely ladies everywhere.
